Local Authorities are required, by section 24(2) of the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006, to have regard to The Regulators’ Compliance Code, issued on 17 December 2007 by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (now Business, Innovation and Skills - BIS).
One of the recommendations of the Code is that Regulators should
publish an enforcement policy. The Public Protection and Safety
Division’s original Enforcement Policy was written and
approved in February 2002 and last updated in October 2006. This
report contains a revised Enforcement Policy, taking account of the
recommendations contained in the Regulators’ Compliance
Code.
