For the public section, the options under consideration include:
•Adjusting or removing the public portion if
required.
•Installing bike racks to provide secure parking and prevent
pavement obstruction.
•Adding public benches to offer a safe resting point for
residents, families, elderly people, visitors, and those waiting
for the tide to recede.
The parklet does not extend beyond the size of a parked car and continues to allow vehicles to pass safely. It naturally slows traffic and improves safety for pedestrians, cyclists, children, and pets. It is not a permanent structure and can be removed at any time should issues arise. However, it has already been installed with significant investment and is operating positively without causing any disturbance.
Retaining the parklet preserves a valuable community asset,
supports the local economy, and enhances the character of the
neighbourhood.
On reaching 100 signatures the relevant Cabinet Member will be made aware of the matter.
