London Councils is a cross-party organisation, funded and run by member authorities to work on behalf of them all, regardless of political persuasion. It also acts as the employers’ organisation for the 32 London boroughs, providing advice, support and training, and representing them in negotiations.
Its members - all 32 London boroughs, the City of London, the Metropolitan Police Authority and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority – fund its work through subscription.
London Councils’ Crime and Public Protection Forum takes a lead on strategy and policy developments in the community safely field, building links with key partner agencies and supporting boroughs in developing new initiatives and improving services. It aims to ensure that the interests of London, and the boroughs, are fully recognised in the development of community safety policies and in the allocation of funding. The forum also works with London’s police, probation and courts service to achieve modern efficient and affordable services for Londoners.
