Petition for Traffic Calming on Hestercombe Avenue Fulham

Having been troubled by the sheer volume of domestic and commercial traffic driving through Hestercombe Avenue, where we have lived since July 2018 (No.41), witnessing excessive speeding and road rage, in addition to reports from our neighbours of one of their children being hit by a car, I have carried out a postal survey earlier this summer for the residential streets of Hestercombe Avenue, Durrell Road and Dorncliffe Road Fulham SW6. I have the original copies of the Petitioners’ replies in my office. Increased use of SATNAV technology is partly to blame to the growth of short cut and rat run traffic through Hestercombe, Durrell and Dorncliffe Roads in that the devices choose the most direct route for drivers. However, there are many drivers just avoiding the traffic lights at the junction of Munster and Fulham Road. The scale of the problem is very serious in the view of the Petitioners and can be witnessed throughout the day but particularly during the commuting/journeying to and from work periods and school run times. I can count so many vehicles and motorbikes/ scooters, mainly turning right off the Munster Road but also turning left off the Fulham Road into Durrell Road. Our house looks down Durrell Road so I see this very clearly. These are residential streets, one with a children’s nursery on it, and not trunk roads through the Borough.

On reaching 1 signatures an officer will investigate the matter further
